Our family which consists of 125 members including staff, students which comprise of 40 inmates etc are taking benefit of all activities under one roof and the family is working for 365 days round the clock. As in a normal family, every member has different problems. Likewise SAVALI'S family has successfully completed 19 years by solving these problems. We have more than 30 staff on honorarium for this cause. SAVALI has worked hard for the objectives and gradually attained the goodwill of the society. SAVALI has fulfilled all the aims and objectives decided at the time of formation. SAVALI carries out its responsibility of caring, education, development of special children and rehabilitating mentally disabled individuals. Our work has been recognized by many corners of the society, individually and institutionally and by the government of India in the year 2010-11. We are able to perform well due to the strong support from the society. SAVALI has two own units for all the above activities, one in the city like Pune and another in the rural area. These buildings are well equipped with all modern needy amenities required for these special children /individuals. The Annual report given below with the highlights of the year is as follows:- It is worthwhile to note that in 2009, SAVALI has taken in hand a work of second project in the rural area at Mauje-Amberwet, Tal- Mulshi. This needy project was very essential because of the increase in volume of all the activities of SAVALI. It is worth noting that SAVALI has completed a second rural project in one year's time with all modern amenities. At present there are more than 40 inmates taking benefit of our life long care center and 30 more can be accommodated in the second project. The projects are suitable for both boys and girls with all vocational activities. In the beginning of the year i.e. in April the inauguration was held and the complete year was utilized for equipping the building. Though all the requirements are not over we have completed the development of the surrounding area of the building, furniture, kitchen equipments, solar system etc. Our total budget was Rs 50 lacs and approximately 50% work is over. All the activities which were scheduled in the new building like residential facilities. Seminars, trainings have not only been started but there was increase in the activities in the training department. If we produce and give the good education for the normal teachers & special educators, all the handicapped will be benefited and will get proper education. With the approval from Rehabilitation Council of India and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Maharashtra State, we have conducted 90 days Foundation course for primary teachers, 3-5 days Continuous Rehabilitation Education, program for special educators in Maharashtra, two years full fledged training program to educate the normal people for special education. Thus more than 200 teachers were trained and given education in this year. We got approval from Indira Gandhi Open University to start B.Ed Distance course in the reporting year and all the activities are progressive. One of the important achievements of SAVALI in the last year was recognition. The Ministry of Social justice and Empowerment, government of India has selected SAVALI as a best institute in India for the mentally challenged individuals. SAVALI was honored by the President of India on 3rd December 2010 at New Delhi. Apart from this it is worthwhile to note that SAVALI has received the recognition from L.T. Marne, Ashtawakra Award, Mumbai, Dada Kondake award, Suryakant Pawar Foundation Award etc. All the said awards are in the form of cash prize, momento and certificates. We cannot forget all the well wishers of SAVALI and their financial support without which we could not have achieved our aims. It is very essential to note that the Bank of Maharashtra, State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, ARAI, AFG, Persistent Systems were amongst many others who have whole heartedly supported and SAVALI cannot forget anyone from small donors to big donors. As a routine, the Trustees of SAVALI have completed 5 years of their tenure in October 2010. Inspite of the request from the past Trustees for other parents to take active part in day to day activities and due to the pressure from the members and the parents many of the Trustees had to continue for another five years. |
